A volunteer
gives their time freely, to benefit someone unrelated, a group, or the environment, for no financial reward. You
should not expect to be out of pocket however, and you should be able to claim reimbursement of expenses incurred.
As a volunteer you can choose how much
time you want to give, and what you want to do. And it’s not all about what you give. In return you can get
so much out of it:
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
. Getting something out
of life through giving
. Boost your confidence
. Social contact - meeting new people, making new friends
.
The satisfaction of doing something worthwhile
. A feeling of being useful and needed
. Activity that fits
in with your time
. Enjoyment and a sense of achievement
. Enhancing your C.V. - gaining valuable experience,
new skills, training and references
AND MUCH MORE........
